Hosting and Server Logs

This website runs on a server I rent from netcup GmbH, a hosting provider based in Germany. The server is located in Germany. When you visit the site, the web server automatically records technical data in its log files: your IP address, date and time, the requested page, the status of the request, the browser you use and the referring page.

I need these logs to run the site securely: they let me detect attacks, abuse and technical problems. That is my legitimate interest under Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR. The logs are deleted automatically after 14 days at the latest and are not merged with any other data or used to build profiles.

Cookies and Local Storage

This site uses no tracking, analytics or advertising cookies, which is also why there is no cookie banner. What it does use is strictly technical:

• Session cookie - a small first-party cookie that protects forms and requests against forgery (CSRF). It contains a random token, nothing about you, and is deleted when you close your browser.
• Browser storage - your theme (dark or light), your language, which stories you have already seen and a short-lived copy of the posts feed are stored in your browser's local storage. This data never leaves your device and I cannot read it.

Storing these is strictly necessary to provide the site the way you expect it (Sec. 25 (2) German TDDDG), so no consent is required.

Content from My Channels (Third-Party Servers)

The posts page and parts of the homepage show previews and players for content from my own channels. The preview images are loaded directly from the platforms' servers as soon as you open the page. Video players only load when you click on a post. Whenever your browser loads something from these servers, it transmits your IP address and technical browser data to the respective platform:

• YouTube - players are embedded via youtube-nocookie.com, YouTube's privacy-enhanced mode, which is designed not to set tracking cookies before you play a video. Thumbnails come from YouTube's image servers. Provider: Google Ireland Ltd., Ireland.
• Twitch - the live player and clip players come from twitch.tv servers. Provider: Twitch Interactive Inc. (part of Amazon), USA.
• TikTok - preview images and embedded players come from tiktok.com servers. Provider: TikTok Technology Ltd., Ireland.
• Instagram - images and videos from my Instagram channel are loaded from Meta's content servers. Provider: Meta Platforms Ireland Ltd., Ireland.

Some of these providers process data in the USA. Google, Amazon and Meta are certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework; where that does not apply, transfers rely on EU standard contractual clauses. Showing my own content is the whole point of this website, which is my legitimate interest under Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR. If you do not want any of this, the platforms' pages are always just a link away and you can simply not open the posts page.

When You Contact Me

If you write me an e-mail, I process your address and whatever you write to answer you (Art. 6 (1) (b) and (f) GDPR). My mail runs on my own mail server in Germany, not with a big mail provider. I keep conversations as long as needed to handle your request and delete them afterwards, unless I'm legally required to keep them.

Encryption

The entire site is only reachable over HTTPS. Data between your browser and the server is encrypted in transit.

Your Rights

Under the GDPR you have the right to:

• Access - ask what data I have about you (Art. 15)
• Rectification - have incorrect data corrected (Art. 16)
• Erasure - have your data deleted (Art. 17)
• Restriction - have processing of your data restricted (Art. 18)
• Data portability - receive your data in a portable format (Art. 20)
• Objection - object to processing based on legitimate interest (Art. 21)
• Complaint - lodge a complaint with a data protection authority (Art. 77)

Realistically there is very little data about you here, but if you have any questions or requests, just write to contact@reepze.com.

What This Site Does Not Do

No analytics or statistics tools, no tracking pixels, no fingerprinting, no ads, no sale of data, no profiling and no automated decision-making. The view counts and follower numbers shown on the posts page are statistics about my channels, not about you.

If the site changes in a way that affects your data, I'll update this page first. The date below always tells you the last revision.
